Silmarillion: First Encounter

From Tolkien's " Silmarillion":

Tolkien purists must be strong now, for I reread the Silmarillion after ten years or so, and of course my deformed mind came up with some gags.

When I read about the first encounter of elves and dwarves and that the elves were "quite surprised" cause they thought there were no other folks besides them, this rushed to my mind - never miss the chance to mock an elf.
