Silmarillion: Wrong Turn by wolfanita Silmarillion: Wrong Turn by wolfanita
From Tolkien's " Silmarillion":

Very short and easy:
Aredhel was a spirited elven lady who loved to go for a ride. One day she lost her way and came to the forest of Eol, the Gothic, I mean, Dark Elf.
Instead of showing her the way back home as a gentleman would have done, he made sure she got lost even more so he could keep and marry her.
They seem to have spent some rather happy years together, but sooner or later it ended all again in betrayal, wounded pride and bloodshed.

aredhel's story has always been one of my favorites of the silmarillion. however unfortunate the whole thing was. nice comedic take on it!

I know quite some people who wouldn't complain too much about getting captured by gothic elves...;)

This will become my "True Tolkien Fan" T-shirt to be worn to certain gatherings. Anyone who sees the shirt and laughs is a true Tolkien fan. ;)

Hehe, that could actually spare a lot of time, bit like speed dating.
'Getting the pun?'
'No.'
'Then there's no sense in talking to you anymore. Next!' ;)

I wasn't going to be so cold. It would be like a secret handshake of acknowledgement that someone has that much instant knowledge of Tolkien's world to get it. Or maybe they are also a fan of yours. ;)

Didn't think you were planning to be, but you know, my brain works in gag mode. ;)
Concerning my own popularity, I have that scene in my mind; I'll go to next HobbitCon in one of my shirts and somebody points at me and yells: 'So you're the one who makes this blasphemous jokes?!! Get her!'
Freud would have a lot to say about that! ;P

I have the strangest impression of you in said shirt being chased about a convention in a sort of reverse-gender Benny Hill mode.

This is beyond all things awesome!! I always hated how Tolkien just skipped past that like she was okay being there, and that it was weird that she ran away.

Well, she mostly left because her son wanted to go, but yes, Tolkien tended to be a bit too short on the interesting parts. ;)

" but sooner or later it ended all again in betrayal, wounded pride and bloodshed"  Dead (RIP)  seems to be the norm for dealing with cursed Noldor Elves.  I think that is one reason i like the Sylvan elves more, less bloodshedHandshake

Yeah, the Noldor are quite... don't know, pompous. I really rolled my eyes sometimes when I read the Silmarillion. ;)

I love this. When I read this tale I was really disappointed because story of those two was not decribed and it simply skipted to times when they had a child. I was really curious how this relationship formed and how it evolved.

Hear hear. Two people at my school are together and they fight like cats and dogs one minute and the next are so sappy it will make you sick. And THAT is still a better love story than Twilight, after all at least the girl actually has more thoughts than "I love Edward" etc. (shows more emotion too...) ;)

Even if I still would be a dental braced teenie, I would never have liked Twilight. It's neither romantic nor dramatic, and if I would be a vampire or werewolf, I would take bloody revenge for ruining my reputation like that...:evillaugh:

I am a teenager and I am with you on the 'revenge' note. I have a reputation of the sarcastic yet helpful spider-fearing, germaphobic, claustrophobic bookworm that has trust issues (no idea why though...) that loves to learn and loves all things "geeky"-basically I am the school's nerd, loner (though I have some close friends) and geek. If I was a vampire-gimme a stake, stat! If I was a werewolf- here's a gun, here's a silver bullet and have at it! I f anything I'd want to be an elf or even a dwarf-anything but the over-published rubbish known as the vampire and werewolf genres, in my school it has gotten so bad that you may as well just change 'teen fiction' to 'vampire, werewolves love triangle(s) genre'.

I agree it isn't romantic. I've never been on a date or had a boyfriend in my life but last I checked romance consists of love, trust, equality and being both independent and dependent on each other-NOT moping around for six months going anorexic and hurting family and friends just because a boy, who you were probably just infatuated with not in love with, left. In my opinion Bella's reaction is actually a disgrace to women for being so dependent and basically saying 'I can't live without my boyfriend' which I take as meaning 'women can't live without a man there'.

I hope that any Twilight fan who reads this understands that I am NOT trying to offend you, merely expressing my thoughts on it . I understand that some people like this book and I respect that so I ask that any Twilight fan who reads this not to be so quick to judge me for expressing my opinion.

I agree with you. I'm just glad my teenage days are over.
I think it's quite sad one automatically writes some sort of appology for expressing an opinion on the internet, I understand why you do and that's even sadder.

I can't wait for my teenage days to be over and I am in university (I hope) I really want to study Chemistry and Criminology or Psychology in university (taking psychology, sociology, R.S. and chemistry (if I get a B in maths and in science as my overall science grade) for A-Levels). I think that you need to write an apology so that people don't start giving negative reactions to what you say. Says a lot about everyone having 'freedom of speech' huh? I always thought it meant you can say what your views are and people tell you they disagree and why-not start yelling and trying to either change your opinion or belittle it.

The problem is the anonymity. People who would never have the guts to say anything to your face dump all their aggressions in the internet on whoever may be there, because nobody knows who they are. I think that's really poor and says a lot about our society and social skills.
