The Hobbit: Fairy Tale by wolfanita The Hobbit: Fairy Tale by wolfanita
Yesterday I had one of my sleepless nights - I know it is absolutely silly, but it fitted so well, I just had to draw it.

Finally we know why Thranduil didn't help the dwarves...

Totally agree with this. Never saw what people's fascination with the elves was. I'm interested in their vast knowledge, but do not in the least find any of them sexually attractive.
Thorin Oakenshield however.... *HAWT!!!!* *Passes out*
Not to mention Fili and DEM MOUSTACHE BRAIDS!! And that gorgeous smirk of his where DEM MOUSTACHE BRAIDS frame those lips so perfectly and make you wonder what it would be like to kiss him.... ;)
Kili's cute. Not really sexy as such.... Not as a 'romantic lovable goofball' anyway. Dark!Kili.... Dark!Kili is sexy.

Oh, I like Thranduil, he's cool (but I like Thorin more).
No matter what Kili does, for me he'll always be just

Sure, but who should be applying water to a burnt area? Thorin after the Smaug attack? Thranduil on his hurt ego?

But the woodcutter couldn't do it and brought the Evil King the heart of his own Mooselk instead of Thorin's to proof his death.

But the Evil King then noticed the difference in size between a Mooselk's heart and a dwarf's because he had both in bottles in his side cabinet and decided to cut the woodcutter's cackle and do it himself!

So he disguised as a huge pale orc and knocked down Thorin with his club of evil so he moved no more. All dwarves stood around him in sorrow, till the wizard came on his great golden eagle and revived Thorin with his magic mumble. For some reason, Thorin hugs the hobbit instead of him after that, and they lived happily ever after (or at least till Thorin got dragon sickness). The evil king was punished; for his only son ran away with a grumpy dwarf and left him wailing alone in his forest till eternity. ;)

But then the other evil king of Imladris came, wed his daughter to the king of the mightiest kindom in middle earth, and traveled east in hopes of reviving the evil king and destroying the dwarves once and for all!

Aw, Elrond's no evil king! He's not even a king...;)
I'd rather think the evil king of Mirkwood lived in his dungeons henceforth, wearing a mask over his burned face, playing organ all the time.

He is! How else do you explain his command over Imladris? and the fact that he tries to stops the Arawen ship? ;)
Is he going to wait until a troublesome condemned soul from his host escapes and sail along the waters of the Anduin to reclaim him for the Elven Dutchman?

Ah, he's just a lord, ruling over his "county". :)

Maybe he tries to get his alienated son to join his side (breathing rather asthmatic because the great serpents of the north once burned his lung).

As for not helping Thorin because he's prettier than Thranduil: You can hardly get more canon than that, right? :D

Ah, no, I just had the mirror from Disney's Snow White in the back of my mind, so any similarities with Sauron are a coincidence. :)

Guess what, Lee Pace shocked me as Thranduil. I've known him only from Twilight, and there I liked him, he was such a warm-hearted, nice character. I was like, how will this work, this serene, cute guy, and he's even younger than his "own" son, I mean Legolas.

He totally nailed it. I am still beyond amazed. You wouldn't say he's younger - they truly look father and son. His moves, his way of talking, his shocked sight when Thorin yells at him.... he IS Thranduil himself. I don't like to say such things, but in this case I am pretty sure that Professor Tolkien would have applauded him. The ice-cold, narcistic, egoist, arrogant bastard, being vulnerable and lonesome in his haughtiness. He's just like his beloved mithrils - a white gem of pure starlight, cold and distant.

I am really curious how his charachter's gonna develop in the third part. After all, he's gonna make truce with Thorin on his dethbed.... but then again, as the studio and P. Jackson handled The Hobbit so far, it can happen that Thorin's not gonna die at all, and the two have a wedding or whatnot. If Tauriel, Kili and Legolas got this silly love-triangle...

I was forced to watch Twilight once and I know that he was there (for some minutes), but I knew him from Pushing Daisies.
If you like Lee Pace, watch Pushing Daises, it's wonderful. :)

I once read a comment where somebody complained  "they got Thranduil's character completely wrong!" I still wonder what book that person had read, for the movie Thranduil is exactly like the one I imagined, but some people always seem to know everything better, what can one do.

Jackson would never do that. Thorin will die, Fili will die, Kili will die and Tauriel will die also. Hence Legolas will hate dwarves till he marries, ah, meets Gimli.
I would have not have needed that Kili/Tauriel/Legolas thing (especially since I'm no fan either of Kili or Legolas) but I don't understand why people make such a fuss about it. It's there now, it could have been awfully much worse, and that's it for me. I think many people forgot the horrible Tolkien interpretations of the 70ies...
